Re: St Michael's : Head teacher's reports 1971-74

On staffing shortages, there was a class photo (now gone) from the early 60s which I saw on 3Ts some years back which showed about a dozen boys in 6th year. I was surprised to recognise half of them as already teachers when I went there just a few short years after they did. It still strikes me as a...

Re: NON-SCOTTISH/BRITISH SURNAMES

The Litaunieks family were of Lithuanian origin. All of the other families were of Italian ancestry, and the music-prize-winning Lunardi (Ivo) was the most gifted violinist St Michael's ever hosted (I don't think they had much to do with his teaching). For once in that year, the very clever Polish f...

Re: How many churches?

Even in the 3Ts history we see the wholesale splintering of believers over abstruse theological points - and that's just Christianity.
Some people think the idea of "interfaith" gatherings is uplifting.
I've come to believe the jury is out.

North Koreans believe they live in the best country in the whole world, because they’re brainwashed by the government and the media…
But every American knows that America is really the best country in the world! :P

Re: Nicola Benedetti MBE

Saw her live at the Albert Hall a few years back - a big bunch of bored-looking adolescent boys (from I guess, a private school, judging by the uniform) were slouched in the row in front, but they all sat bolt upright when ND came on stage in a very tight-fitting dress to do the Mendelssohn.

Does anybody know if the "Sabbath Law" referenced by the Minister was statute, or his take on "Divine law"?

Re: Tesco could meat counters

For what it's worth, corresponding counters in England are now open only weekends.
If it helps, shrink-packaged fish is, by all accounts, about 1 day fresher than "fresh" on the open counter.

Re: Saltcoats as gained a bit of fame

Hi Exile, why do you say that there is no foundation to the legend? Do you have any facts to back that statement up, or are you just passing on what you have heard along the way? Hi, John Donnelly, I can see how I confused the issue - apologies - everything in Italics was lifted directly from the e...
