Joe Timmons did indeed come from Saltcoats and was brought up in Caledonia road (near the Plantation) He also worked in the Ardeer Factory branch of the Bank of Scotland and would referee some of the Factory League matches

dont think it opened up as a hotel again after the deaths of the Burke lads in the mid eighties lay dormant for a while then opened as a care home my guess would be mid to late eighties it opened as a care home
