Re: Chapelhill Mount Water Tower

It was definitely still standing when St Peters Primary moved up that end of the town in late '95. I'd guess it came down around 1997. No idea if it was still in use, I' d assume not.

Re: Ardrossan from Witches Linn - 1950s

Thanks George, it is indeed the same waterfall I was thinking of. I took a walk down the burn the other day to see what had become of one of my favourite childhood playgrounds and it wasn't pretty. I don't know if the development new housing estate has played a part, but it doesn't look as if anyone...

Geroge, where is exactly was that photograph taken? The only waterfall I remember is the one just down the bank from the railway line, beside the big rock, but it neither picture looks the way I remember it.

Ardrossan playgrounds/amusements

I distinctly remember there being swingparks in Craigspark, Chapelhill Mount and Elm Park but by the early to mid 90s they were all gone. The same goes for the 'puggies' on the shorefront near the putting green which Im sure had a small train ride alongside it it some point. Can anyone shed any ligh...

Re: Old Bathing Pond Photos: by Maggie T

I grew up in Rowanside Terrace in Ardrossan but moved away a couple of years ago. I only really come back to see my family and friends when I can but I have a great interest in the history of the area and love looking at the old photos. Morag, it wouldn't have been as busy as the old days but I dist...

Re: Old Bathing Pond Photos: by Maggie T

Would anyone be able to tell me if they still have the boats in the pond? I'm 22 and live in Glasgow now but can remember being about 5 or 6 and the place being mobbed in the summer with about 20 pedal boats and canoes in the water at once. I always asked but was never allowed a go. I also remember ...
