I remember that well Hughie, Chris had the only 3 door Holden (make of car) in Melbourne, what a laugh that was.

When I went to the baths in the late fifties, we used to go for a combine tea which consisted of a pie and beans with bread, butter, and a cup of tea,in the Queens cafe just next to the baths. Have you tried the book by local author John Millar "In the SHADOW of the Dynamite" I've just finished reading it again.If you can get a copy check page 154. Hope it helps.

I can remember a "John Lowe" from Misknowes, Stevenston. Who used to make a varierty of horn products. He operated from someplace close to the Redburn. My brother in Queensland still has a sailing ship that John made but the label is missing from the bottom of the boat. More information on...
