Re: The top-level link to https://www.threetowners.net is giving a 404 error
Hugh, The 404 error is really off-putting - makes people think the site is down or gone. It's also a change from before. A casual passer-by would have to know that /forum has to be appended to the base URL. If you add another area to the site, how will people find it? The reason I raise the matter i...

The top-level link to https://www.threetowners.net is giving a 404 error
Hi, Don't know if anyone else is seeing this, but trying to access https://www.threetowners.net is throwing a 404 error. Accessing https://www.threetowners.net/forum works just fine. Clearing cookies makes no difference - I think the web server needs a configuration check. I see the error from New Y...

Re: Doom and Gloom
Going back to the original post, I saw this from the A&S Herald just last December. It's a map what what will happen to the 3 towns if sea levels rise. Pretty scary stuff....all 3 towns get hit hard, but the larger map shows Irvine gets almost obliterated. https://www.ardrossanherald.com/news/18...

Re: Saltcoats newsagents Starks to close after 112 years
I was also extremely disgusted with the A&S Herald running an Ad for Sunday Brunch at the repulsive Donald Trump's restaurant at his Turnberry golf course. Most folk in the 3 towns couldn't afford to go there anyway, but no-one who isn't a racist scumbag should give him a penny.

Saltcoats newsagents Starks to close after 112 years
This is really sad. We knew the McSherry family very well....my sister was married to Ross for a while, and we used to help out in the shops as kids. Another piece of Saltcoats heritage bites the dust. https://www.ardrossanherald.com/news/17929822.saltcoats-family-newsagents-starks-close-112-years/

Re: Miss Wade and Sister Pauline, St Michael's 1972
I went to St Michael's from 70 to 74. It's safe to say I hated almost every second of it...outside of the classrooms, and a few times also inside. The place was a hostile hotbed of psychotic bullying and religious lunacy. Sister Pauline was a remote figure for me, but most of the other nuns that I h...

Re: What is this feature at Hunterston?
I think it's where the heat exchangers from the power stations emerge. The water around there is a lot warmer than usual, and you often get basking sharks etc in the area.

Re: Jack's Place, Stanley Hotel
I've just found this website by Googling my own name - Shirley Seabury! Mum and Dad sold the Stanley to Mr Franklin in 1984 and retired to Caledonia Road. It saddened them to see the hotel slide in to disrepair and I think we were all relieved to see it finally put out of its misery and flattened. ...

Susan, I tried to click on the ayrshireroots link, and get denied access..... Forbidden You don't have permission to access /Towns/Saltcoats/Old Views/Saltcoats_War_Memorial.jpg on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the req...

Re: A Stroll round 1960s Saltcoats
Hi Susan, North Manse was actually No 59 Caledonia Road. It is 2 doors down from the house you mention on the corner of Waverly Place - that was occupied by the Fraser family back then. No 59 had 2 names - one on each gatepost - "North Manse" and "Dunottar". Still did when I last...
