Hi John,
So glad to meet you after all this time searching. I have done an extensive Cannon family tree & would be happy to share this with all relatives. Thomas Cannon, married to Sarah Monaghan was my grandfather John's brother. John migrated to Western Australia. Recently I posted his story on a website called "Streets of East Fremantle".If you Google it you can read about John Cannon & his daughter Sister Benedicta Cannon.

I have been stuck advancing any research on his brother Thomas for some time now - only last week discovered the name of Thomas's wife. I had some of the children's names, but little else. My Aunt Lilian Bowden (nw deceased) visited son John's wife Jeanie sometime in the 1980's & I got her address & some details from Lil's travel diary.

I am Kim Cannon - granddaughter of John Cannon & Elizabeth Vance. John & Elizabeth had three children
1) Lilian Cannon, married to Saville Bowden
2) Ronald William Cannon, married to Joyce Betty Scott, Gisela Hack & Daisy Foo. Ron was my Dad.
3) Benedicta Cannon, a nun in the Order of St Joseph of the Apparition.
All John's children are deceased. But I have regular contact with my cousins - the son & daughter of Lilian Bowden.

I would love to make contact with you and fill in a few gaps. Records are hard to access from more recent times & I had come to a bit of a standstill. I have also researched earlier family, which you might find interesting & have some old photos.

All the Best, Kim

I am John's son Jack, I've been away from Ayrshire for over 30 years, and only just saw this.

My Grandfather was Thomas Cannon from Bray, and you can find him in the Ireland 1901 and 1911 census (free to look up)

I'm assuming Elizabeth is my Cousin who moved to New Zealand when I was just a kid?

If they are the same cannons who played bowls at ardeer bowling club about 20 or so years ago, I played in the mixed pairs with Betty, and also knew george well and played in a few games with him.
Such a lovely couple.

Hi Janice I am James & Betty Cannons daughter, I am about to do a bit of family history so if you have any info I would love to have it. Was trying to find out why my father was brought up by the grandparents. Where are you living now are you still in Canada? My mother is still alive and can give me little snippets of my fathers life but well I am still trying to hone in on the Irish side of things. I understand the great grandparents came from Bray in Ireland.

Hi: I am Janice, George and Betty Cannon's daughter (Sara's grandaughter). I lived for a time at the house you speak of (8 Hayocks Road). I also remember Milda (Black) and her uncle's store in Saltcoats where Betty worked. How are you Milda? Aunt Sheila is the only one still alive I think.
