Cycling home from work tonight in a bit of a blizzard thinking to myself if this weather was in December it would be festive but now it's January it's just chankin.

Soon as I headed out this morning for my cycle I noticed the smell of bushfire smoke. I believe it was coming all the way from Tasmania across Bass Straight to Melbourne.

Another area of concern here in Oz is Townsville which has been declared a disaster area owing to the monsoon rains in the far north. Haven't heard from Elizabeth from Ardrossan up there for a long time - hope all is well. Thoughts too are with member Al in OZ up there in Tropical Queensland.

Floods and fire with drought in the middle. Just looked at the rainfall for Jan. 0.8m. With the 38°+temps we certainly need rain but my thoughts are with those who have lost their homes/property through either the fires in Tassie or the floods up north.

Oz really does get the blunt end of the stick with extreme temps in summer. Hope all is well with Threetowners there. Feeling a bit of a woose moaning about -5 deg c this morning. Stay safe...

Last Tuesday we took the ferry over to Melbourne - we were staying the night at our sons. He lives near to the beach volleyball courts there at Port Melbourne. I was having a cataract op the following day and got told off from the wife for forgetting my sunglasses - for after the op.

Before tea I went for a walk on the sand and low and behold I found a nice pair of sunglasses beside the volleyball courts. Felt right chuffed! She was happy too.
