Post by Hughie »

A couple of nice Snapper, caught by holidaymakers on our local Portarlington pier here in Oz - this is not common from the pier.

2 nice fish Hughie, and by all accounts red snapper are quite tasty. Is the pier a man made structure, it looks like a breakwater with all the boulders in situ.

I'm away now to try and find my travel rod, watch out for a chap at the door.

Yes, it is a breakwater, Neil. The pier is a wooden structure, behind it where the mussel farm boats and leisure craft berth. Folks walk the breakwater tarmac and return via the pier. Our mussel festival is this Saturday.

Hughie, would that be the convict ship that left Ardrossan 200 years ago, just arriving?
