Hughie,

When you offered up "HUGHIE'S SENDING IT DOWN" as an Australian alternative and suggested "HUGHIE" equalled "God's little helper", you were clearly being modest. Pursuing another idea, I came across a google interpretation that "HUGHIE" is "A 20TH CENTURY AUSTRALIAN EUPHEMISM FOR GOD" as in "HUGHIE'S SENDING IT DOWN".

THREETOWNERS HEIDIE is wan thing but AUSTRALIAN HUGHIE is something else a' the gither!

I wonder, Penny. Maybe my wife knew that. :) she often starts a sentence with "God". The other day it was ... God, have you not done the dishes yet? And, God, you forgot to put the wheelie bin oot and we've missed the pick-up. Told her just to call me Hughie, more so if there is company around.

But then I remember women back home calling their husband's "Jesus Christ" at the start of a sentence - a form of endearment or perhaps worship.

It'll get worse if she starts with 'Dear God...' complete with eye roll!

I revisted this topic just to make sure that I or someone else had included THUNDER PLUMP because believe you me travelling tonight between Wigtownshire and Renfrewshire I came through quite a few of these. If the flood water was anything to go by Girvan must have got a battering.

Mind you we're just two days away from Glasgow Fair Friday. It begins to make sense.

This topic came back to mind today when somebody I was speaking to in the street suggested we had better move on before it started to PLUMMET.

And by the way, it did plummet!
