Can I just say thanks to all the people who gave me assistance in my search for Caddell Farm and Girthill Farm. I found them both and we had very interesting conversations with the current owners. Everyone was so helpful to us in our research, particularly the assistants in the research room at the Dick institute in Kilmarnock.
Apparently there were advertisments in Ayrshire in the late 1800's for farmers to come to Essex. We were not able to find these this time but hopefully will come again.
Thanks again. We loved Scotland, and the sun shone most of the time!
