Ardeer Thistle Still Homeless
Resuscitated in the region of two years ago due mainly to the initiative of District Councillor James Clements, Ardeer Thistle Football Club have so far been unsuccessful in their many attempts to secure a site for a playing pitch.
The site most recently sought after was one at the foreshore extending to 31 acres. Mr Clements put the suggestion to the local councillors at a meeting held on 7th February when it was decided to consult the County Planning Officer on the matter.
The project was finally quashed at a meeting of the District Council on Monday of last week when the Planning officer's reply was read. The reply pointed out that the local Council had carried out a number of improvements in the area and while the Planning Officer had no objections to a football pitch for general use, he could not approve of the enclosure of the area with corrugated iron sheeting which would be necessary for a junior club to conform to the rules of the Scottish Junior Football Association.
