Local Photographers

Anybody remember photographers in the late 50’s, called J.B. Fullarton, Jack W. Boyd & Rowallan Studios.
I believe they did weddings, portrait, glamour etc in the local area..
Any information on them would be appreciated and will help with some archive work on Scottish photographers

I recall Jack (aka "Jackie") Boyd and his wife Rita. In March 1972, Jackie took the photographs of our wedding and Rita hand-coloured them. If my 72 year old memory serves, the business was located in Dockhead Street, Saltcoats.

Later there was a redevelopment of that stretch of Dockhead Street, and he got a new shop.

We also discuss R V Brown, another popular local photographer of the time, who had a studio in Manse Street and later a shop in Chapelwell Street.

R.T. Evans and sons were another well known photographer in the Three Towns. They used to have a shop at 94 Dockhead Street, also another one over on New Street in Stevenston that sold audio equipment and appliances as well.
