To update you on the latest information I have.

Jill McColl from the Heritage Centre in Saltcoats has contacted me. She is endeavouring to make contact with Alex Hughes (or whoever the present owner of the domain is). She says that the Council is willing to take over the domain and keep it active into the future.

She will keep me updated.

For members information: As you will know we no longer have the resources of the Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald Intimations Database [BDMs] as a research tool. the two topics linked below will give further details - these are no longer sticky topics.

Hughie, were you ever able to make contact with Alex? I was one of the early volunteers (must be over 20 years ago) and I have kept copies of some that I transcribed and also some that I checked for other volunteers - i.e. the photos of the BMDs from the newspapers as well as the transcriptions. You probably already have all of them. On a visit to Scotland once, I was able to meet with Alex.... but that is many moons ago.

Thanks, Irene. A warm welcome to threetowners. :puter Unfortunately we've never been able to make contact with Alex Hughes. So all the details from the hard work you and your group put into the database is now lost to everyone.

If there is some way we could perhaps share what you have in a topic here it would be helpful. I'm sure our members would be willing to assist in anyway they can.

The ASH files I have will open in Microsoft Works. Also have the image files used to transcribe the data.
1921.xls - 2nd quarter (no images)
1935Q2.wks - 2nd quarter of 1935 - 25 images (also 1935Q2.xls)
1945_3.wks - 3rd quarter of 1945 - 26 images
1953Q2.wks - 2nd quarter of 1953 - 26 images
1957Q4pt.wks- 4th quarter of 1957 - 14 images (Nov. and Dec. only)
1964Q1.wks - 1st quarter of 1964 - 24 images
I have ASH BMD text files for the surnames I was researching in Saltcoats including NORWOOD, SHEDDEN, MILLER, PLLU; also any BMDs for Troon (my home town).
My computer is very old (as am I) so I need any help I can get to share the information.
