Re: Busbie Drive Ardrossan
This photo with the boarded windows brought back a lot of memories, I lived in 27, from 1939 till 55, I can remember
Beggs terrace being built and can remember most of the families around me but not too sure of the one's at the bottom of the street, great street at that time..

A family of Dochertys lived in Busbie Drive until they moved round the corner to Ailsa Gardens, where some of them might still be.
In the second of George's pictures, on the left-hand side, the first block of four flats, left-hand again, downstairs (with the car parked on the driveway or on that of the semi-detached next door) is the Docherty's former home. Mickey and Philomena were the parents and they had around eight children. The parents came originally from Inishowen and arrived in Ardrossan via Glasgow.

I realise this was an old thread. Came across it doing family research. You don't happen to remember my mum, Joanie Boyd do you? I am not sure of the number she stayed at on Busbie Drive though, possibly 19 but I am not sure. She wasn't there for too long, came from Clyde Terrace.

Hi Fraochnait - I grew up in Clyde Terrace - number 7. I remember a Boyd family but it was such a long street there might have been another family. Can you remember the number - I think the Boyd’s I remember lived in number 4?Fraochnait wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 5:09 pmHi SweetCaroline, sweet caroline wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2013 10:16 pm Hi Poppy,Could it have been the Dockerty's at that time .I lived in 17 upstairs 1973-1977

Meg,
I recently posted regarding an accident on Goatfell involving a Dorothy Boyd, No. 2a Clyde Terrace (as opposed) to No. 4).
I also have a note of a road accident, not yet posted, involving a Janette Boyd of No. 32 Clyde Terrace. Her vehicle was struck in Irvine by a drunk driver.

Meg,
I'm not sure how I became a guest all of a sudden, but hey ho No. 2a is a semi-detached, sharing that status with a house in Lawson Drive, and as the 'a' might suggest, sits immediately adjacent to No. 2. It's obviously been built when Lawson Drive was constructed and maybe because of the awkward angle at which it sits, the Council have decided to make it an add-on to Clyde Terrace.

Nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it.

Yes PT - it was Chrissie McDougal’s family home - I thought it might have been part of Lawson drive but that makes sense.

That would have been my mum's family. 2a Clyde Terrace. Sorry, I didn't get any notifications to say you had replied. Would love to speak to anyone who knew them.

Re: Busbie Drive Ardrossan
Hi Meg,
Apologies if I am not replying correctly, still trying to navigate my way around the forum. As I previously tried to reply, the Boyd family lived at 2a Clyde Terrace. The newspaper article about Dorothy Boyd's accident on Goat Fell was my Auntie Dot (same family). Do you remember the Boyd's from that address at all? Peter, Joe, Christie, Joanie, William and Dot Boyd. Parents were John and Meg.
Any info or just background on the family as you remember would be fantastic (good or bad)
What a great site this is, treasure trove of information.
All the best.
