THE STANLEY BURN

The town Councils of Ardrossan and Saltcoats are at present considering what steps should be taken to confine Stanley Burn to a defined channel in order that the amenity of the beach may be improved.

It has been remitted to the Surveyors of both burghs to prepare a report on works which they consider could with advantage be carried out.

The burn is the boundary at the beach between the towns.

SALTCOATS EAST SHORE EMBANKMENT

A special committee appointed by the Town Council to approach the Glasgow & South-Western Railway Company in order that the embankment which protects the railway at the East Shore might be put into a better state of repair, and accesses to the shore formed, reported the result of their conference at a meeting of Saltcoats Town Council.

The Company were prepared to consider a scheme for the improvement of the beach, and invited the Council to submit proposals to state to what extent they are prepared to assist.

The Council, after consideration, agreed that they were unable to assent to the company’s request, for reasons which they give, and they invite the directors of the company to inspect the shore and reconsider the matter.
