Thanks for that Ellen,Cliff was on my wall when I was 11 ,so I always liked him. He is still looking great. I just wish my other idol and been allowed to have his 70th. John Lennon, unfortunately that sicko Mark Chapman took him away from us all .

Whilst not a Cliff Richard fan I have to admire his achievements and longevity in the entertainment business and LIVING DOLL is certainly a classic!

Surprised to read he was considered or considered himself, a rocker. I was quite young when I liked him but even then never thought of him like the bad boy rocker image! Billy Fury, Marty Wilde, mibbe, Cliff always seemed a wee bit softer. Safe for a good wee lassie tae post oan her wall!

He looks ok to me,I don't think I would have got away with that type of poster when I was 11,but I probably would have tried

Yes Morag, I know John will live on in his two boys and his music, but I wish that hadn't happened.

Me too, Milda, but somehow a dramatic exit like that seems John's style. Love the Beatles, Paul was ma man back then, funny enough my mum really appreciated / liked John, I think she saw him as the real talent. I think the balance of them worked. John's snarkiness, Paul's cuteness and ability to appeal to a large market. There's a word for that I'll remember tomorrow!

My mates and I always looked upon Cliff Richard as an Elvis Presley wannabee back then. Wonder how popular he was in the USA in the period I'm talking about, circa 1957. Or if his records were even released there at the time.

I don't think he made much of a dent in the US market. Wasn't it strange how it was either Elvis or Cliff, Beatles or Stones, like you couldn't be a fan of both?
