Re: Countdown
Milda,
I saw the programme. I don't know Alan personally but wondered if he was born and brought up in Queen's Drive, Ardrossan?

Re: Countdown
Maggie,
Did the family not have some involvement with the wee Post Office in Queen's Drive, opposite what I would call the Dalry Road football pitches?

Re: Countdown
I know Alan very well.
In fact, he asked me to go with him to Manchester to film the show several weeks ago. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it though. I think I'd to watch some paint drying that day, or something similar.
Nah, seriously, he's not the worst.
Most people on the thread are correct.
He was born in Hayocks Road, Stevenston, and brought up in Queen's Drive, Ardrossan. He now lives in Glasgow Street in the town, much to the regulars of Alfie's great dismay.
His father was Danny, the insurance man, and he was from Ardrossan.
His mother was Betty, and Kilpatrick was her maiden name. She was from Stevenston, and was the sister of Sanny the bookie. I'm sure a few on here will remember him. I believe another brother was an MC in The Douglas, but that was before my time, so I can't confirm that until I next talk to him.
Alan's siblings are James, Karen, Lynne and Brian.
I was in Karen's year at school, and know her very well too.

Re: Countdown
Alan lived next door to me in queens drive, and it was his aunt that owned the shop next to post office in central ave; between post office and co-op, if my memory serves me well it was a drapers.
