deaths of Ex-Residents of Ardrossan

Sad to relate the untimely early death of Jean Hair last week in Albany, Western Australia, aged only 66. Still practising as a Teaching Midwife until ill health caused her to retire early, she continued to live alone in Albany after her and Hans Sipsma divorced. She was born in 11 McNay Crescent, Saltcoats but moved to Northford, Eglinton Road, Ardrossan before doing her Nurse Training in Ayrshire and completing her Midwifery Training at Aberdeen. She then became a world traveller, nursing in Abu Dhabi, CHUV @ Lausanne, Switzerland and crossed the Atlantic with Hans in a 37ft yacht and toured all the countries of the Caribbean for 7 years before re-crossing the Atlantic as far as The Azores. After another spell in Lausanne they toured Australia staying at Whyalla, then on a passion fruit farm in Mount Barker before pitching up at Albany. Anyone interested we will have an ash-scattering picnic at the wee bay just before the Waterside Hotel on the North Shore, sometime mid-April. Also, but not least, we will also be ash-scattering for my wife who died May 2024, Elizabeth Nelson (nee Hair) as in life the two sisters were often inseparable. My brother, Dennis Edward Nelson also passed away in 2023 at a Nursing Home in Dalmellington... Ian
