Help with finding Georgina Nolan b. 1912

Post by Curiousgirl »

Hello everyone

I am a newbie to this site so please forgive me if I'm on the wrong forum - I would appreciate any advice or directions if I do something wrong.

I am researching for a family whose gt. aunt named Georgina Nolan b. 1912 in Liverpool apparently married a policeman after 1939 & moved to Ardrossan where the couple at one point ran a public house.

The remaining family are keen to know what happened to Georgina & whether she had any family or if she died & is buried there.
The husband's name was John - but can't remember what his surname was

Any help with regards to records, electoral rolls for this time period - anythings thoughts or advice would be truly appreciated.

Look forward to hearing from you & thank you for welcoming me to your site

Hi Curiousgirl,
Scotlands People has an entry which might be of help:
Georgina Nolan, died 1978 at Saltcoats, aged 66.

You could try this link for information on her grave:
https://www.north-ayrshire.gov.uk/birth ... earch.aspx

The link to Scotlands People:
https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/

I couldn't find any information on her marriage, so I assume she married in England.
In order to find any children you would have to know her husband's surname.

I hope this helps.
Irene

Alfie's dad was Aldo AGOSTINI, Alfie was named after the grandfather who had his ice cream shop at the bottom of Glasgow street. See this topic: Castlehill Vaults, Ardrossan

Georgina was from Liverpool. People used to marry in the bride's church. Perhaps they still do?

The father of a late relative, through marriage, an Italian born café owner in Glasgow, was interned on the Isle of Man via Liverpool. I don't know if this meant he simply passed through Liverpool or whether there was a 'holding point' in the city beforehand. I think the internment was pretty relaxed and the gentleman in question was accommodated in what would otherwise have been a holiday hotel on the seafront at Douglas. Maybe Georgina met Aldo on the Isle of Man as opposed to Liverpool?

My late relative, incidentally, the Glasgow born son of the internee, was called up for the British Army, albeit posted to the Medical Corps
