AYRSHIRE'S MILK BARS.
With the co-operation of the Scottish Milk Marketing Board, Mr Thorn, Aberlour Nurseries, Saltcoats, has installed a fully equipped milk bar. The Ayrshire coast appears to appreciate the possibilities of these new milk drinks, because there are already milk bars in Largs, Ayr, Troon and Girvan.
A Girvan district farmer has installed a roadside kiosk at his farm for the sale of milk drinks to picnicers and bathers along the shore. Aberlour Nurseries are the first to give Saltcoats its first experience of this new way of catering for the demand for cooling drinks.

I remember the cafe being there and the green houses being next to it, where they are now building flats.

Yes basically, there were a few modifications through the years. Something in the back of my memory is telling me that this was also the living quarters of the owners. They bought a bungalow across from the pub on the High road, but I’m not sure where this was on the time line.
