Sitting here like a dug wi' twa' tails, drinking a can of McEwans Export.
Took a run over to the English shop in The Hague this afternoon, - we'd run out of PG-tips. So I stocked up with all the goodies we can't normally get in the shops. When Ria finds out how much I spent, she'll have my guts.
Ria is away for the weekend with her music pals, supposedly to rehearse their new winter programme. Aye, that'll be right.
So, I'm in charge. Weather's rubbish. I'm supposed to be playing golf tomorrow, but I'm going to chicken out. I don't mix rain and golf.
I'm fraying round the edges these days. Just got a temprary plate with two front teeth. The old crowns were done and so were my roots, so I'm getting implants. Lots of no fun at all. That was Friday. I've got to wait till February before I get them in. The roots are oot and the holes are filled up with some kind of artificial bone so that the things will stay put when they're screwed in. My jaw is not deep enough to take the screws alone. That needs three months to set.
Yesterday, I got my hearing aids. Now, that is a big success. This getting older business is not for the faint hearted. I'm starting to feel like the bionic man.

Thanks Brian,
one down three to go, (McEwans that is). Then I've got two bottles of Newcastle broon ale. Saving those for special.
I've got them all right at the back of the pantry so that HTNTBO doesnae see them.

A neighbour in Hawkhill Pl. used to brew his own in his hut. Boom he called it, my Lord he named it right! It was a hot, for us, sunny day, and mum decided to sit out on a slightly rickety old chair and enjoy her glass of boom. She didn't normally drink beer, so a wee bit of a surprise. Anyway, they must've had something going on at the rec, some fancy fliers overhead, mum looks up to see, rickety chair sees it's chance over it goes, over mum goes head over heels, we run to see if she's ok. Head emerges, big grin, holds her beer up 'I didn't spill a drop!'

Hate to be pedantic, but I think the phrase was written by John Mortimer, and spoken by Rumpole of the Bailey - and it was “she who must be obeyed”. Ask George
