I haven't quite finished yet with Ardrossan Academy pictures; there are still these to show you, action photos from Sports Day 1957.
They were taken by my father but never printed out; I discovered them in a collection of old negatives ( alongside baby pictures of me which allowed me to date them accurately ! ) , and they were kindly digitised by Ian Dalgleish of the Ardrossan Academy website for his own use. As a result I agreed to delay showing them on Threetowners until he had shown them all on there.
But now the time has come, and here are the first three: a three-legged race, a sack race and a boys' flat race.In all of them we're looking towards Saltcoats, with the tower of St Cuthbert's Church visible in the background. The pictures are in sequence as they were taken.

Three more pictures now, and this first one features two girls who seem to be well ahead of the field.
Some older girls now in what looks like a very close finish.
And we're on the opposite side of the course and looking towards the High Road for this boys' race.

Again looking towards the High Road in this one :
Meanwhile in photo 8 we have a good view of the Sports Pavilion, newly built that year :
And here we have what looks like a skipping rope race :

Lone runners breast the tape in both these next two pictures :
But here's the whole field of a girls' race.

Here we have a slow bicycle race.
A group of girls crosses the line :
And here's what looks like the same girl in shorts on her own now , with a good view of the senior girls and others waiting to receive the runners.

I met him only briefly when attending 'night classes' at Ardrossan Academy, but the gentleman second from the left, following up behind the slow bicycle race, reminds me of Mr. Wilfred Seggie?
Nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it.

One final race :
And then last of all there's this picture of three girls :
In the centre is my late sister Anne Nock. I asked Milda a while back if she knew the other two, and she said the girl to Anne's right was Elma Hodgson, while the other girl might be Anne Caldwell.
