A wee bump for this thread. I had an enjoyable evening in the Castlehill Vaults (Alfies) last night. The place is looking well having undergone a refurbishment earlier this year, and the new Landlords appear to be doing very well. Alfies has a real Ardrossan feel to it and is one of only three traditional pubs left in the town. Lang may its lum reek!

Mitchy, Maggie T, Looking through this post I noticed you both mentioned 'Buster' he was my brother what a character, I also see Tommy Alison's name mentioned he was my wife's grandfather.

Another wee bump for Alfies. Had a smashing night in there again last night. A great pub, with the most pleasant, friendly staff you could wish for. For those of you with time on your hands it opens at 09:00hrs every day except Sunday. Us poor workers must wait until the weekend

lived in ardrossan all my life and never been in alfies, nor the tap shoap or charlies bar. only places i have been in are the lauriston (used to serve real ale), garfields (okay scran) and chechinnis (lovely food). Might also add that unusually for a ardrossonian I rarely drink alcohol so that partially explains it
call me alan or al, labels are for tins of beans or soup not people. We are all Jock Tamson's bairns
