Hi Wallace,

You're probably aware of these two entries in the Landsborough Censuses for 1819 and 1836 relating to Robert and Ann - wonder where they were during the 1822 census? Hope this helps.

I'll list the following just in case your DAVID BANKS has any connection -

The 20 April 1867 edition of the Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald intimates the death of AGNES BANKS, aged 28, at DALRY.

The 20 February 1875 edition then intimates the death of MARY BANKS at Townend, daughter of DAVID BANKS.

And then the 22 July 1882 edition intimates the death of AGNES BANKS at Townend, daughter of DAVID BANKS.

There are, of course, many other BANKS and WALKER family intimation in BDM database of the above newspaper -

Thank you Hughie and Penny Tray , your posts are appreciated .
Yes it is interesting that the WALKER family are not on the 1822 Landsborough List .
But i note with interest the John WALKER married to Helen BEVERIDGE is on the 1822 list as John WALLACE but then on the 1836 list he is there as John WALKER together with wife Helen BEVERIDGE ??
i wonder if anyone can throw light on this as it might relate to my wifes ggrandfather Robert WALKER who although according to the OPRs was christened twice in Greenock Renfrewshire ( Dec 1830 & 1831 ) but his death certificate staes he was born in Stevenston .
It does sound like i am grasping at straws , well that exactly it , have been trying to find out why Robert WALKER ( ggrandfather ) also called himself Robert WALLACE , even registering the birth of his offspring using either surname ??
I anyone could shed some light on all this it would be SO appreciated !!

Thanks sweet Caroline ( im sure you are ) for your observations , think those 2 marriages ( 1796 ) are the same which did happen sometime , obviously Ann SKELTON came from Carlisle and Rob WALKER from Stevenston . Yes the marriage entry is hard to read , something there about some army regiment ??
What do you think of my comment or rather question SC regarding John WALKER named as John WALLACE in the 1822 Landsborough List ?? Might make that a separate query

Yes it is the same marriage ,that's why I checked it out .
As for John Walker
John Walker
Gender Male
Christening Date 03 Oct 1802
Christening Place , ABBEY (PAISLEY), RENFREW, SCOTLAND
Birth Date 13 Sep 1802
Father's Name Robert Walker
Mother's Name Ann Skelton
residence:

1802

Eaglesham, Renfrewshire, Scotland

Not finding him on a census .I would think if he changed his name then proceded to live in the same small town as his Father (Birth Town),trouble would ensue. Even today ,I don't think it would lead to a happy situation.
SC( I have my disagreements like everyone else :) )
