Carmichael Family

Post by bertcarmichael »

Hi, I am trying to track down any history on the Carmichael Family. At present all I know is my Great Granda was called Albert James Carmichael and he was killed in action during the WW1 on the 31/10/18.

If anyone is aware of the family can you reply to this post, I would like to know is my son is the last of Carmichael's from this line. As my father Albert Carmichael was an only son and so am I.

Sometime my Grand Father came to Northern Ireland and married but that us all I know, his name was William Carmichael.

Many thanks for the help.

Sorry forgot to say my Great Grandfather name is also on the Stevenson war memorial. Dont know if it helps.

Do you know where he married ,and have you looked that places War Memorial. If Albert was Irish born ,his name could be in both War Memorials.

HI Caroline,

The information on the grave is correct, My granda William Carmichael was married to Mary, my granda died in the mid 80's and my granny Mary in 1993 and they had 6 daughters and one son. Where they were married I am not too sure as it was a bit before my time lol.

As far as I am aware all thier kids were born in Northern Ireland in Belfast.

I will try to get more information from family members when I get back from offshore next week.

Thanks again Caroline.

I have Carmichaels in my tree. They were originally from Avondale, Lanark.
I found a Carmichael family in Stevenston on the 1911 census. I haven't been able to connect this family to mine, but it might be your Albert:

Albert Carmichael, age 28, born New Zealand
Mary, wife, 27, born Ireland
William Jas, age 3, born Ireland.
Address Boglemart St.
