FOOTBALL
NEILSTON v. STEVENSTON THISTLE
At Broadlie Park, Neilston

In the first half the Stevenston men had the best of the play and scored twice, while the home team, who were very unfortunate at goal, failed to score.

The second half opened brisk on both sides, and for 20 minutes the game was very stubbornly contested, but finally the Neilston team were successful in getting the ball through and before call of time run up their score to five, the result being - Neilston, 5 goals; Thistle, 3 goals.

FOOTBALL – SCOTTISH CUP 2ND ROUND
STEVENSTON THISTLE v. KILMARNOCK ATHLETIC
At Stevenston

The weather was most unfavourable for play, the game being commenced in a storm of wind and rain. All through the game the wind was high, with occasional showers.

With the wind in their favour in the first half, Thistle put on three goals and Athletic one.

On changing, Athletic had the advantage of the wind, and had most of the play, scoring two more goals, and thus equalising. Thistle in the second half played a defensive game.

The game ended in a draw – 3 goals each.

RAILWAY ACCIDENT IN SCOTLAND

The Ministry of Munitions makes the following announcement: -

“A statement has appeared in the press that as a result of a railway accident at a Scottish munitions factory several lives were lost. The accident in question was of a minor nature. No lives were lost, but nine persons sustained cuts and contusions.”

The above announcement has reference to an accident which occurred on Wednesday night on a branch railway to a passenger train conveying girls engaged in a factory to their homes. One carriage fouled the points, and it toppled over, but the engine and the other carriages kept the rails. No one sustained injuries except of the very slightest.

Another train was sent for, but the majority of the girls completed their journey on foot.
