Most of us would recognise this occupation associated with the Robertson name in Saltcoats - is the firm still going back there?

They moved a few years ago to what was once the SMT bus garage in Princes Street Ardrossan. They recently expanded and opened a processing plant in Irvine. I'm not sure how that is going.

STEVENSTON THISTLE AND ROSE LODGE, No. 169
The annual meeting of the brethren of this lodge was held on Monday night in the Thistle and Rose Hotel, under the presidency of Brother Donald Sinclair, R.W.M.
The following officer-bearers were elected during the day for the ensuing year, viz: -
Brother Donald Sinclair, R.W.M.; Thomas Lambie, D.M.; Adam Wilson, P.M.; John Taylor, Treasurer; Alexander Wilson, secretary; John Kennel, S.D.; Alexander Kilpatrick, J.D.; Matthew Scott, S.S.; Rev. R. J. Kyd, Chaplain; William Fleck, B.B.; Archibald Pennell, S.B.; David Frew, J.G.; and John Scott, Tyler.
The customary festival followed.

The shop in Windmill St. Saltcoats, we always knew as the Pork Store.
They also had a shop at the top of New St. in Stevenston.

STEVENSTON CONSERVATIVE ASSOCIATION
On Friday night the annual supper of the Saltcoats, Ardrossan, and Stevenston Conservative Association took place in Ardeer Academy. About 150 were present.
In the unavoidable absence of Mr. John Cuninghame of Alder Bank, Bothwell, Mr. Alexander Guthrie, shipping agent, Ardrossan, presided. The croupiers were Messrs James Mutter, M. S. Sutherland, Ardrossan, and Howatson, Eglinton Iron Works, Kilwinning.
Mr. Clark, Railway Hotel, Ardrossan, purveyed the supper.
In the course of the evening Mr. Cochran-Patrick, M.P., addressed the meeting, dealing chiefly with Irish affairs.

NEW YEAR – STEVENSTON
The town had the usual holiday aspect, work being suspended generally.
Comparatively few persons were to be see under the influence of drink.
The Established Church Sunday-school children received their usual New-Year’s Day treat.
In the evening a public soiree was held in the New Street Hall – Mr. T. Oswald presiding. The speakers were Rev. J. Forrest, Messrs Hamilton, Donaldson, Howie, and Fullerton.
A choir conducted by Mr. Ingram have a selection of music.
