GLASGOW HERALD
10 JUNE 1891
ARDEER GOLF CLUB
The handicap competition for the captain’s prizes has now been completed.
In the first class Mr. Robert Adam and Mr. J. R. Motion were left to play for the first and second prize. Mr. Motion got a start of two holes from his opponent, but the latter, notwithstanding that Mr. Motion was playing a very fine game, carried off the match by three up and two to play.
In the second class the contest lay between Mr. William Law and Mr. T. M. Wilkie playing level. Mr. Wilkie, though very fortunate throughout the competition up to this point, had to take second place, Mr. Law defeating him by three up with two to play.

Re: Stevenston - On This Day In History
Hi, PT and Irene,
thanks for this. The brickworks was beside the bridge which went under the Caley railway at the end of Moorpark Road West. That would be where the golf-course is today.
As we often say on here, 'every day is a schoolday.'
