ARDROSSAN – LAUNCH

There was launched yesterday forenoon from the shipyard of Messrs Barr & Shearer a beautifully modelled three-masted schooner, which has been built expressly for the Newfoundland fish trade.

The principal owner is Captain Hendry, who has been most successful as a shipmaster in the East India trade.

The launch was a most successful one, and as the vessel took the ways she was christened the “JOHN SMITH” by Miss Maggie Smith.
