Local Elections - An Opportunity to Stuff May
Re: Local Elections - An Opportunity to Stuff May
Vivian no right thinking person vandalises anything. When we get our independence we will have a nuclear free country, no Trident or nuclear power stations. A country that will be a shining example to the world.

Well, Viv, let's take a wee look at that.Vivc113 wrote: If this is nationalism, you can stick it.
Look back to when all the various colonies were fighting to get their independence. Going all the way back to the American war of independence, all the African colonies, India; all the various Dutch, French, Belgian, Spanish, Portuguese, ... the list goes on and on. Think of all the violence, bloodshed and murder which took place during their struggles.
Now look at Scotland. If my memory serves me correctly, there were three pillar boxes blown up because they had the name 'Queen Elizabeth II' on them. We stole the Stone of Scone (and gave one back !!!) and now poor old Donald has been vandalised. I don't think we're doing too badly. - And we have achieved a measure of independence without a drop of blood being spilled.
JD.

So stickers have been put on a statue didn't hear many complaints when his glasses were stolen umpteen times, or that wellington constantly lives with a traffic cone on his head.
Those wimin were in the nip.

Yes, and we will also be out of the EU and a financial basket case of a country. Some people like to look at independence through rose tinted specs but the reality would be higher taxes, severe cuts to public services or a combination of both. That's an unpalatable fact that you won't hear nationalist shouting from the rooftops.5siamese7 wrote:Vivian no right thinking person vandalises anything. According to the Evening Times stickers were plastered all over his statue including one supporting pro-independence. Given that it was largely due to the efforts of Donald that we got devolution, I think it highly unlikely that supporters of independence would deface his statue.Vivc113 wrote: In other news the statue of Donald Dewar has been vandalised by 'YES' people after a demo yesterday in Glasgow. It was clearly a lot more than one sticker Retsum.Retsum wrote:According to the Evening Times stickers were plastered all over his statue including one supporting pro-independence. No the specs again? surely no?
Dewar's statute has been vandalised since a fortnight after it went up, Dewar was a sanctimonious bully , by what I observed whilst on jury duty at Killie court,
Commenting on Dewar best to read articles by both sides , Willie Ross (Lord something of Kilmarnock) had less than no time for Dewar, as had a load more
google Who didn't like Donald Dewar

A great point well made. You seem to make a habit out of having snide digs at people on here. There really is no need. Btw, please tell me what is incorrect about what I have said.michaelm wrote:Speaking of basket cases.GEODGC wrote:Yes, and we will also be out of the EU and a financial basket case of a country. You do realise that countries joining the EU have to meet certain criteria before they can join? One of which is to have a GDP of 3% or less.....ours is currently 9.4%. Blind faith won't reduce that or making statements like we will be a prosperous country.5siamese7 wrote:No we will be in the EU and a prosperous country.GEODGC wrote:Yes, and we will also be out of the EU and a financial basket case of a country.
