Don't recall the names of the owners of the Melbourne Cafe but recall the father had the chip shop round the corner way back in the sixties. Great fish and chips. Was in there back a few years ago and waiting for our order when I noticed an auld codger staring at me - turned out to be my best pal from school. Billy Adams from Castle Road in Ardrossan. Jesso! There was us looking at each other's faithers. :)

Billy keep in touch!

The original owner of the Melbourne Café was, I think, Luigi Tortolano, Senior.

And was Billy Adams alias "Cocky Adams" (formerly Eglinton School) who, I think, lives now in Ardrossan Road, just along from where Mr. Tortolano's chip shop was located?
Nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it.

To paraphrase I love the smell of 2 stroke in the morning.
a tidy Lambretta was sat outside the Crown, this afternoon dating from from 1963 given the reg letters it would have been originally from Edinburgh

The plate looked like it was original or early 70 , black background silver letter, had moved on to plastic after they progressed from plastic coated ones, the pressed and polished , became harder to obtain, that said I met a guy who worked in Grants in Girvin who restored Scooters, and very knowledgeable on the subject , he had had Harleys , Indians,Vellocettes big REs a whole array of vintage bikes, but while restoring them he'd never ever ridden one!

If you have worked at (or found love) at Melbourne Cafe, the owners would like you to add your names to their doors.

I am not quite sure what this means... I spotted this on their facebook page. If you are in the cafe at any point, please speak to the staff. :hi:
