St Michaels Kilwinning
Once again not sure of the year, but most of them went to primary schools in the three towns.

The wide flares, platform shoes and hairstyles makes me think it was some time in the late 60's early 70's - have you got some of the names Gerry?

Re: St Michaels Kilwinning
I was at St. Mick's '62 - '68, they were quite strict about uniform so my guess is 70's at the earliest. You could wear navy or black skirts, trousers, those white and brown wearers would've at the very least, been sent home to change...and no white shirt and school tie?? shudders, wee Polly would have you whipped! After suitable public humiliation.Meg Gordon wrote:The wide flares, platform shoes and hairstyles makes me think it was some time in the late 60's early 70's - have you got some of the names Gerry?

Re: St Michaels Kilwinning
Gerry, my guess would be 1974.
That looks like Martin Jack from Stevenston, top row, 3rd from the left.
Front row, in the centre, the lad wearing glasses, I'm sure is John (Chopper) Donald from Saltcoats.
The guy sitting next to him, obviously wearing them horrendous white trousers for a bet, looks very much like Joe Hume from Stevenston.
Others look very familiar, I'll try to find out more names.
St Michaels' dress code went right out of the window in this showing

I think it was 75/76 as I was 18 in 74 and Joe Hume and Martin Jack were 2 years below me at primary school.
As for the dress code it seems it was last day of term and I think they were all in 6th year so it would have been their very last day at school (except for Joe as he went on to become a PE teacher at St Mathews) as for the rest of the names I am not very sure but I'm sure that Peter will come up with a few.
Peter yes it is chopper and Ist in the middle row was Dr Griffins son.

I think it's 75/76. Is there a higher resolution picture?
I was in that class, and left St Mick's in 1974. I'm not in the picture, but I recognise a few of them too.
Front row, second from the left is Peter Edge, who I believe became a teacher at St Mick's later, and still lives in Irvine.
Joe Hume is unmistakeable, front row 4th from left.
I think front row right is Tony McGoogan, but it's hard to see.
Middle row, right is Frank Turbet, second from right is Donald Murchie.

Back row, 4th from left is my cousin Willie Hazelton. Middle row, 4th in from left is my mate Jim Jenkins. 5th in from left is John McLaughlin. Front row, right in the middle, is John 'Chopper' Donald.
