I remember sitting in class and someone coming in to remove some poor wee soul, who later returned with purple spots on their face! I always equated it with something nasty that I hoped I never got. But, I never really understood what it was.
I also remember cringing when the school dentist's assistant came in, white and starchy, and I had to go with her to get yet more fillings. That was a nightmare. (I attended Saltcoats Public school).
Sausages are the boys!
