If it's the same Mrs Murray she taught my husband in primary 5 and that would have been around 1977??

I heard the notorious Miss Hand passed away a few weeks back, surely she must have been nearly 100.

Only knew two girls and three brothers from my Hand relatives - they settled in Ardrossan in the early part of the 1900s - none became teachers as far as I know. My grandmother was the sister of ... Mary Catherine McGREGG, born 1886, Newry, Ireland; died 1925, Ardrossan, Ayr; married John HAND, October 1908, Dundrum, Co Down, Ireland. Perhaps John had a brother whose family also moved to the district - it's not a common name.
