Now for something a bit different. In 1968, the school magazine came up with a novel feature; a gallery of photos of our teachers when they were children or teenagers. A surprising number of them were game enough to contribute, and I propose to show them to you in this topic.
I'll start with the ones where I have a picture of them in more normal guise to add ; and to begin with I'll feature two of the most senior of the female teachers : Miss Currie of domestic science, and Dr Nisbet the principal teacher of classics. Here they are as pupils knew them, with Miss Currie on the left:
And here they are as you've never seen them before ( unless you bought the 1968 school magazine ). This pretty little girl in her best frock is Miss Currie:
And this suitably studious-looking young girl grew up to be Dr Nisbet :
Plenty more of these to come.

I had Mr Dempster for maths in 5th year. We called him Humpty Dumpty behind his back. He was an excellent teacher who took no prisoners. Lets say no-body gave him any trouble. I'd had enough of the place and managed to get a job. He stopped me on the stair and as I was his star pupil he tried to persuade me to stay. He told me I was making a big mistake and do you know if he had called me by my Christian name he probably would have persuaded me to stay.
