Ardrossan Academy sports and other group photos session 1968-69
Moving on now to session 1968-69, here are the rugby and hockey teams. Note the arrival at the captaincy of Bryan Gossman, the future Scotland player. The trophy is the James Murray memorial trophy for rugby sevens.

Moving on now to netball:

The three houses were Stanley, Montfode and Castle I think Susan.

Yes Meg, sorry there was no information on who belonged to which house, but unfortunately it wasn't given. If the picture was only a colour one we might have been able to make out their badges !

I was in Montfode - and years later ended up buying a house in Montfode Drive - the coincidence did cross my mind a few times:-)

And I was Castle, much to my disappointment as I'd hoped to follow my sister into Montfode.
But I'll bet none of you know that at some time in their recent history Ardrossan Academy junked their old house names and replaced them with a new lot; don't know what all of them are but I discovered this when I came across a reference to sports winners or something a while back on the Academy website. Is nothing sacred ? !

Re: Ardrossan Academy sports and other group photos session 1968-69
Finally for this session we come to a new feature, the orchestra photo. There is an official list that accompanied this, but it contains several errors and omissions so I decided it was best to type out a corrected version.
Back row: S Bannatyne, C Drake, Alistair Mills, T Newall, Bryan Gossman, B Davidson, A Cunningham, Barclay Duff, J Thomson, K McDonald, John Leitch, unknown.
Standing: Valerie Peters, G Gourlay, K McLeod, Alison Caldwell, Nicola McKinnon, J Baird, E Morris, Lucy Robertson, Sandra Hair, Jennifer Jack, Sarah Thompson, Deirdre McKinnon.
Seated: M Marshall, R Linfield, E Wyper, M Archibald, Winnie Sloan, Joy Kirkwood, Alison Miller, F Bell, Catherine Brooks.
Front row: Josephine Drake, Margaret Lennie, Janice Galloway, James Hair, Fiona Francis, John Brooks, Karen Leitch, Agnes Wilson, Janessa Armstrong.
You'll notice Bryan Gossman was versatile enough to make it into the orchestra as well as the sports teams; wonder what his instrument was.
You'll also notice the presence of Janice Galloway, and this is in fact the orchestra photo she describes in some detail in " All Made Up " ( and not the photo that appears on the cover ).
