Didn't recognise him Sam, just the name,. Haven't seen Francie since we were perhaps 10 years old. His Granny and Granpaw lived opposite the entrance to the Gasworks at the top of McDowall Avenue in Ardrossan - more or less across the road from us.
My sister and Patty Gribben were pals and I have memories of Patty sitting with us in our back bedroom toasting bread with forks over an open fire while she told us ghost stories with the light of the flickering flames and the lights out.
Think folks of our age will remember such events before TV.
