You must be proud to know your Son is such a well respected teaching pro Hughie. He also comes across very well in media interviews etc.

Here's a link to the Golphin website http://www.golphin.com/
For anyone who's interested, scroll down and there's a short promo video with input from company founder Calum McPherson. Also noticed at the very bottom of the page that their Head Office is in Irvine, so there's a wee semi-local connection there too.

Apart from the putting greens at Ardrossan and Saltcoats, my first real hit of a golf ball was on Irvine's low green. Where, around the late fifties they had a pitch and putt course. I'm thinking at that time we only went to Irvine on a Sunday afternoon for a pint - something to do with being a bonefide traveller.

You can still see the shape of the pitch and put at the low green although it has not been in use for years.

Our son, Jamie McCallum, who is the director of Junior Golf at Melbourne's Albert Park Golf Academy, will along with other golf coaches be taking part in this event. He'll be there at the invitation of the Irvine based Golphin company. If you have youngsters who are interested, further details are at: http://www.golphinforkids.com/

According to my family research, we had McCallum ancestors in Dundonald during the 1851 census.

Added: At Dundonald, coaches at the rear. Jamie on the left.

Son was playing West Kilbride golf links a few hours ago with the other golf coaches from Golphin.com - told him to remind them about his local ancestral background with the three towns, Kilwinning and Irvine. He might not have heard me - the wind was blowing. Ha hahaha! That's links golf!
