What are you reading now?

Post by Hughie »

In the process of reading and very much enjoying Lin Anderson's first book "Driftnet"

A teenage boy is found mutilated and murdered in a Glasgow flat. Forensic scientist Rhona Macleod is called to the scene, but her grim task is made even more unsettling than usual by the boy’s remarkable resemblance to her – and the fact that she gave up a baby boy for adoption seventeen years before.

Racked with guilt, she sets out to find the boy’s killer and determine whether he is her long-lost son – but in doing so, she immerses herself in the sinister world of an internet paedophile ring. Some very powerful men have a lot to lose if she succeeds, and everything to gain if she dies.

Sounds like a great read Hughie - put in the "wish list" for later. I am re-reading the Ladies No. 1 Detective Agency - McColl Smith. I loved the books the first time round and really enjoyed the first series on TV. Really a lovely gentle read on a wet afternoon!.

"The Adventures of Goodnight and Loving" - Leslie Thomas

A wonderful escapist story about a man in a mid-life crisis who wanders off from his 'hum drum' life and is beset by amazing and wonderful adventures (in a serindipitous way) after his car breaks down on a motorway. Through Paris, Rome, India, Hong Kong, Australia, South Sea Islands and America. Wish it was me

It IS you, Mac, that's the joy of reading! :D
I'm reading 1916 by Morgan Llywelyn about the Irish rebellion.

 You're quite right Morag. Expect he'll end up back home - though maybe a wiser and more fulfilled man.

I do love reading and, yes, whilst I do I'm in another world :D

I'm just about to start 'LONG WALK TO FREEDOM', Nelson Mandela's autobiography, for a second time.

I found it quite a 'heavy' read about 18 months ago but it's tremendous story told by an exceptional person.

Having read most of Ian Rankin and Aelx Gray, I am now reading P D James' The Murder Room, having just finished reading The Light House. A very thrilling writer and pays attention to detail.

I've enjoyed several P.D. James mysteries shown here on Public Television, PBS, which is the channel we get most British imports on.
