I was really surprised to see the USA public channel, PBS, which I remember as a very welcome relief from the endless US television dross at the time - suddenly show up on Freeview. I was even more surprised that the programme being run was about all the Scots who fought with the International Brigade.
Does anybody know if this was originally a Scottish TV production?
I remember PBS was always very coy about where its programmes came from, and almost never credited the original makers.
PBS
Re: PBS
I remember seeing it and it was either BBC Scotland or Stv. It was a slaughter for the Brigade a lot of the equipment came from Russia and a lot of the machine guns jammed. The Royal Navy would signal the fascist submarines when a convoy was spotted. My uncle arrived with the American contingent and the ship was immediately sunk and he was captures and was lucky to escape with his life.
Re: PBS
I've seen it as well but can't remember what channel it was on. Here's an interesting link
