Eurovision New Year philarmonic concert from Vienna

Post by glenshena »

Just watched the hour long New Year concert from the beautiful Vienna Concert Hall with the Vienna Philarmonic Orchestra playing all of Johann Strauss's music. Led by Maestro Riccardo Muti, a sheer delight. During some tunes there would be filmed helicopter views of stunning Austrian Castles and the river Danube. As it was in Eurovision perhaps some of you managed to see it. Nice to endulge in some culture now and again.

Hi Glenshena.
It's been a New Year tradition for Ria and I for years. It really is wonderful.

Yes my BIL never missed it. It was his annual must see. I watched it occasionaly over the years. Never tire of seeing the ballet dancers, this year in summer frocks instead of usual beautiful 17 th century costumes.

The BBC carry it every year. I did investigate how much tickets would cost to attend — OMG  don’t ask....

Ria was saying to me on Monday that it is booked up for years in advance.
JD,
Wee update after having checked out of curiosity.
Tickets are chosen by drawing lots.
Meg, you're right. I don't want to know the prices. J.
