This is set in the 50's in Ballarat, Victoria, starring Craig McLaughlan of Neighbours fame. Really great mysteries, and Craig, being the police doctor, solves most of them. It's shot around Ballarat and George, after his visits there, is able to identify places like the fire station. Didn't oor Hughie live around there before retiring?

We lived not far from Ballarat, Meg, That was before retiring to the coast. It's an interesting place and where the Eureka Stockade was, because of that it's said to be the birth place of Australian democracy. Two of our grand daughters were born there. And as George will attest there's a statue of Rabbie in the main Street
Dr Blake is a good show and popular here.

Quite a few Scots emigrated to Ballarat .Think they had a gold rush there. Also a very bad train crash in the 1800's one of Australias' worst.

Yes there was a lot of gold found in and around Ballarat. And a lot of Scots, Irish and English worked on the Gold fields there.
Our Grand daughter went to school at Sovereign Hill See this topic: http://www.threetowners.net/forum/viewt ... 93#p108293Sovereign Hill brings to life the excitement of Australia’s great 1850s gold rushes. Named Australia’s best ‘Major Tourist Attraction’ three times, most recently in 2015, Sovereign Hill provides a unique Australian experience and a full day of entertainment.

In passing (and off topic!!!!), Scotland was part of the late 1880's gold rush. George and I have wedding rings made of Scottish gold panned from the River Esk. Seemingly there's still a fair amount of gold in our rivers.Hughie wrote:Yes there was a lot of gold found in and around Ballarat.
