Movies you've watch over

Post by Hughie »

What movies have you enjoyed so much that you've watched them over more than a few times?

I've enjoyed the usual popular movies, but haven't had the inclination to re-watch them. So, here are a couple I've enjoyed re-watching.

The first in many ways is a wee bit corny, but I really enjoyed it.
The Movie The Natural - about a gifted baseball player. Superbly played by one of my favourite actors, Robert Redford.

The second movie I've watched more than a few times is Gran Torino with Clint Eastwood. Another of my favourite actors going back to when he was a scout for Gil Favour? Think I might have lost the young ones there? Ha hahaha.

What movies have you re-watched?

The following come readily to mind, depending what mood I'm in. LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL is an interesting one, I never thought I'd be able to watch a foreign language film with subtitles once, never mind several times. Another classic for me is 1943, ideally with a couple glasses of wine.

The Godfather.
Road to Perdition.
It's a Wonderful Life.
Braveheart.
The African Queen.
Life is Beautiful.
1943.
The Hunt for Red October.
The King's Speech.
Nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it.

My sister Margaret saw South Pacific 8 times and wore out the soundtrack LP.
Not a great movie-goer but I have shelves full of books which I've read over and over and over and .....

JD.

This might be better in the 'not many people know that' thread, but South Pacific was the first film Sean Connery appeared in. He was one of the dancing sailors in the 'Happy Talking' scene.

three that come to mind immediately are:
Bull Durham
The Replacements
I married An Axe Murderer
All have wonderful soundtracks!
I bought the CDs and listen to them often.
PS: Bull Durham CD took me years to track down but well worth the search...:)

I must confess to a weakness for old British comedies. However many times have I seen Will Hay pursuing spooks in those classics Oh Mr Porter and Ask a Policeman; certainly enough to know what line of dialogue comes next before they utter it...

On a different plane I much enjoy the gentle observation of Jacques Tati's films, Jour de Fete and Monsieur Hulot's Holiday; always ready to see those again.
