Looking at these Navy uniforms got me wondering about a former classmate of mine from Eglinton School - John Morrison. His grandparents used to live opposite us in Churchill Drive & corresponded with Mum & Dad for many years after we emigrated to N.Z. My point is - I believe John went into the Merchant Navy on Shell tankers. His grandmother sent us a photo of him once in his Merchant Navy uniform. I don't know where it's got to but does anyone know John & what's become of him these days?

Bob,

John's mother still lives locally and I see her from time to time. He lives now in England.
Nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it.

Thought I'd add this group photo of the 10 MSD (Main Supply Depot) football team, R.A.S.C., Kilmarnock taken in February 1943. I've tried to arrange the captioning to correspond with where people were sitting or standing in the 3 rows. Dad is seated 2nd. from the right in the middle row, next to Lt. Matthews. He was seated there as he was the team captain. He was also the only representative of the Military Police in the team & was about 2 months short of his 27th. birthday at the time. For comparison I also include a photo of Dad (aged 94) I took last year in a local park. Thought it may interest you Penny Tray :)

My old school pal, John Warnock (on the right) when he gained his wings with the Parachute Regiment in Aldershot. I think around 1962. He and Jim Smith were featured in a Herald article not long ago doing a run for charity.

Billy McC.jpg
This is my cousin Billy McCallum.
You may have known him, Hughie. He was Ian and Hughie's big brother. He died in 1956.
The most important hour is always the present, the most significant person is the one opposite you right now, and the most necessary deed is always love. - Meister Eckhart (c.1260 - c.1328)

No Irene, I didn't know Billy, but I do remember the workplace accident as his brother Ian was in my class at Eglinton, and Hugh was a few classes ahead of us.
