who amongst our members, remember when the Ardrossan post Office, Introduced motor bikes, I think it would be about 1953. At the time, I think the Motor Bikes were for the telegram Boys. The Bike was a 125cc BSA Bantam. I remember right, Tommy Ballantyne was one of the first to get one of these Bikes. and became the envy of all us teenagers who desperately wanted a Motor Bike.

I'm certain some of them (or parts of) ended up at the Stevenston and District Motorcycle Club, where they ran the ACU Training Scheme

Don't know about tommy having an accident, cant remember him having a limp. but its all so long ago.
I don't recall any of the Bikes at the SMCC. I was a member there for a number of years but left in 1959 for national Service, so it could have been after my time. It was a great Club we had lots of Fun.

I remember Freddie Kean who went to Ardrossan Academy with me getting a job as telegram boy in the sixties, I'm not sure if he was based in Saltcoats or Ardrossan. Did all three towns have their own telegram boys? I'm sure they must have.
