The only mention I'd found about a Redan Building was here (last paragraph):

There used to be a Redan Road, but that had disappeared by 1937 (left of Ardeer Square):

The most important hour is always the present, the most significant person is the one opposite you right now, and the most necessary deed is always love. - Meister Eckhart (c.1260 - c.1328)

It was definitely the Dardanelles because my mum told me she was a barmaid in it when she was 18, 1937.
I remember it vaguely.

It was definitely the Dardanelles, my dad reminded me a number of times that I was born upstairs from it at No. 7 Quay Street which was directly above the bar.

The building is still standing and you can still make oot the exterior signage, just, of the Burns Tavern, and flats above. See it soon before ‘ it becomes ‘awa noo….’.!? there was a bakers up the close next too pub, could it have been Howies or was that Countess St. ?
At the corner of Bradshaw/Countess St, opp corner Duncan’s was Nellany brothers bookmaker. Brian Monaghan and Pat McLaughlan kept books there. Both local lads. Pat was on Saltcoats Post Office counter before that. Funny how a bookies is always opposite a pub!?

John Crawford (Fearless), was living at Number 11 in 1952 (according to court details). So he might have kept Wee Boney awake with his shouting and singing when he had a few too many.

Re: PUB IN QUAY STREET SALTCOATS
I was very lucky there Hughie,
Wee Fearless was there in 1952, we moved out on the 13th December 1951. The old memory is still good on that one.
Another bit of news on the building. My mother was born in that building as well. 24th April 1911. As were her sister and brothers.
