Thanks, George Ardrossan. Never noticed the montgomerie crescent sign on low wall having passed by on hundreds of occasions. Observant eh ? .

From Gorges photograph, Burn Rd. apparently extends from the mini Roundabout at the junction of South Crescent. Rd. and Ardrossan Rd. to the sign reading, montgomerie Crescent. I have passed that sign frequently, and have failed to notice it !. If however this is the case , then the Galloway burn cannot be the boundary.
