Please sign and share this petition being run to help local communities in the Firth of Clyde change the way the marine environment is managed. The campaign wants the Scottish Government to replenish depleted fish stocks and bring back an environmentally and economically viable and diverse fishery in the Clyde. More fish will support more job opportunities and industries for tourism (as whales, dolphins, birds etc will come back), angling, locally sourced fish etc!! All signed up garnockvalleyboy. Richard Lochhead, secretary for rural affairs and environment announced 30 marine protected areas in Scotland, I think that was in July of this year, this was to meet directives from the european union.
3 M.P.A's are relevant to the Clyde area, I'm not good with coordinates but the Ballantrae bank area near Girvan stretching over to the headland of Campbelltown is one, the second is the south of Arran and the third being Loch Fyne and Goil . I'm not really sure what marine protection this gives as there are 1/2 dozen - 2 dozen bottom trawlers/dredgers working these areas on a daily basis. I've been unable to find out what exactly is protected but it's obviously not the sea bed. If this was happening on land for everyone to see there would protest marches and demonstrations everywhere, Richard Lochhead needs to grow a pair for the Clyde to recover.

Maybe if it happens I will catch something decent.
Here's hoping it does some good for the future.
