Summer of '63 !
Summer of '63 !
Where we're you ?
What were you doing in the summer of '63 ?
I was 12 just going into Secondary School and the summer seemed to last forever.
I remember Buddy Holly etc, the fair and candy floss, and not much else !

Month of May we were heading out to Australia as immigrants , spent our first wedding anniversary in WA
Re: Summer of '63 !
That was the year I graduated. Sat my finals in May and spent the rest of the summer just lazying around Ardrossan and waiting to start research for a Ph.D. in October. As a prize the University (Glasgow) paid for me to attend the annual meeting of the British Association for the Advancement of Science which was in Aberdeen. There I met a 'bird' and we got married a year later. Next year is our 50th and already the kids? are planning something.

Walking back to Ardrossan via the High Road from the bottom end of Stevenston late on the Summer nights with love in my heart. Wondering if it would be a good idea to (1) get married and (2) Migrate to Australia. For me they were two good decisions which came to fruition the following year.

The summer of 1963 must have been a good one, because there are lots of pictures of me in summer frocks dating from that year ( all slides, alas ). I was just turned seven and getting over a bad winter of lots of illnesses, so I was ready to enjoy myself. That was the summer that my sister Anne went on an Ayshire French Summer School trip abroad, and afterwards we hosted a French girl called Monique, with lots of trips out to show her the beauties of the Ayrshire coast ( but I wasn't allowed to go on the boat trip to Rothesay, in case I was seasick.... ).

Summer of '63 i was 2 1/2 and my wee brother had just been born. We lived in Pladda Road and i got bitten by a big dug. It is one of my first memories that dug. The wumman wrapped my hand in a tea towel, and gave me an apple. Still got the scar on my hand to this day
