The Cafe was the Mayfair ,it was owned by Moroni. The 3 blind mice or Savoy was owned by the Lanni's and I prefered Lanni's rolls and sausage.
Re: A cafe in Countess street Saltcoats

I remember walking up the passageway to buy chips after going to the matinee. They were always hot and vinegary - yum.

Last time I was in the Station Restaurant was in 2009, the sign in the window said "Plaza ice-cream sold here". So I had one and devoured it on my way back to Stevenston via the coastal (slabs) route.

Dont know whether I have said it before - here in South Australia you have to ask for vinegar and sometimes you have to wait whilst they rummage out the back looking for it. Then when you get it, its bloody white wine vinegar! Most of them would not know proper malt vinegar if you belted them over the head with a bottle of it!
